| Mobs to Kill: Shimmerscale Eel (See Map -->) Location: Sylmir Lake, Terrokar Forest Frequent Drops: - Mote of Water ~20%
- Elemental Fragment 11.85s each (x20)
- Primordial Essence 13.25s each (x20)
Optimal Classes: Warlock, Shadow Priest Also effective: Druid, Hunter, Mage | | My Class of Choice: Warlock because of their dots and no downtime Use: Underwater Breathing or Underwater Elixir to be able to say underwater Use: Azure Silk Belt to increase swim speed by 15% allowing you to travel quicker. It reduces your fire power slightly but you don’t need much to kill these mobs. Although these mobs have a lower chance to drop motes of water than other mobs, their fast respawn rate and easy killability make them a very efficent farming target. Using my warlock I make about 180g in primals and loot an hour and that is not counting occasional greens. What you want to do is kill and loot these mobs as fast as possible. The faster you kill them the faster they will spawn. I personally us my warlock because dots make it very easy and because warlocks are overpowered which is a good thing when you are playing one. You can use other classes and builds other than an affliction warlock but your farming efficiency might differ. Throw up a siphon life and corruption on a mob then find another mob and repeat. Unless your character is very poorly geared these two spells will take care of it (otherwise cast COA too). Your goal is to kill 5-6 of these mobs at any given time and loot them while they are hitting you. These mobs barely do any damage so your siphon life and occasional life drain should keep you at full life and full mana with life tap. I've cleared an entire area with about 50 of these mobs in less than 5 minitues using this technique. Tips: - The faster you kill, the faster these mobs spawn. AOE dotting / aoe is preferable.
- These mobs don’t hit hard and die very quickly so you should not have much downtime.
- Although the drop rate on motes is pretty low (18%) you can easily kill 3-4 in the time it takes you to kill other mobs.
- If the place is being heavily farmed, then farm something else.
- Always check your underwater breathing!
- You want the mobs to follow you so you don’t have to move as much to loot.
- For Pets, get rid of taunt so the mob is following / attacking you.
- Use Azure Silk Belt to increase swim speed which will increase your efficency.
- Have bag space! Sure motes won’t take that much space but you will collect a ton of grays that will sell for about 2g per stack.
Avoid: - This place is crowded during peak hours, normally I play mid-day or late.
- Unless fired upon first, don’t make enemies unless you know you can take them out.
Other classes techniques: Mage: 1-2 shot these suckers and loot, AOE options work well too. Hunter: Just phew phew, can normally take them down with 2-3 shots. Druid: Use your swim form to gather these mobs and then moonfire them. A one hour session nets me about 63 motes of water and 30g in gray vendor loot equaling more than 180 per hour. -- Comments and Feedback Welcomed
